.KEY MESSAGES...
Updated at 1218 PM CDT Sat Jul 5 2025

- Mostly dry and hot through the weekend with widely scattered
  thunderstorms possible during the afternoon.

- Rain and thunderstorms return to middle Tennessee this coming week,
  with chances nearly every day.

- Heat indices will approach or exceed 100 degrees through at
  least mid-week.

.SHORT TERM...
(Rest of today through Sunday)
Issued at 1125 AM CDT Sat Jul 5 2025

Satellite showing clear skies once again across middle Tennessee.
The weekend should be fairly quiet, with some chances for isolated
showers and thunderstorms both days. This is due to moisture return
increasing with southerly flow into the mid-south. This will lead to
triple digit heat indices starting today and going into next week,
though we are expecting them to remain below advisory criteria. This
morning`s sounding showed 1.5" for Precipitable Water. That`s an
increase of half an inch of precipitable water compared to yesterday
morning`s sounding, so the moisture return has begun. With any
diurnally driven thunderstorms, main hazards will be gusty winds and
heavy rainfall.

&&

.LONG TERM...
(Sunday Night through next Saturday)
Issued at 1125 AM CDT Sat Jul 5 2025

Mid-level troughing will drop south into the work week, allowing
disturbances to have more of an effect on middle Tennessee through
the mid week. A ridge in the desert SW will then flatten, allowing
the trough to dip further south at the end of the work week. With
further moisture advection into the area (PWATs mid week are up to
1.8" in the guidance) and these disturbances traversing across the
Ohio Valley then across the state, showers and thunderstorms become
increasingly likely through the remainder of the period. With the
usual caveat of precipitation amounts being higher in thunderstorms,
daily accumulations look pretty light right now each day in the work
week. Total accumulations through the work week are around half an
inch to just over one inch, with a 20 - 40% chance of accumulations
greater than 1". Compared to previous guidance, there seems to be
more of a focus on northern middle TN for the area most likely to
receive over an inch.

As for temperatures, they will return to near normal, which is still
in the upper 80s and 90s. Heat indices will be a concern through mid-
week as well, with triple digit heat indices possible every day
through Wednesday.

.AVIATION...
(18Z TAFS)
Issued at 1218 PM CDT Sat Jul 5 2025

For the most part, VFR conditions will prevail at mid-state
terminals during this TAF cycle. The only exceptions will be a few
hours of MVFR vis at CKV/MQY and a few hours of IFR conditions at
CSV from 08Z to 12Z/Sun. Winds will be light (10 kts or less)
with a mostly southerly fetch.
